1. Introduction

Holycat ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App") available on the Apple App Store.

By downloading, installing, or using Holycat, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

IMPORTANT — 100% LOCAL STORAGE

All personal information (including your name, age, time spent on phone, wake-up time, affirmations, prayers, todo lists, mood entries, and streak history) is stored exclusively on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit this information to our servers or any online storage service. All processing happens locally on your device.

The only exception is if you explicitly choose to share this information with us (for example, in a support email or when reporting an issue).

2.1 Personal Information You Provide

When you use Holycat, you may provide the following personal information:

  • Name: Your name as entered in the App
  • Age: Your age for personalized features and content
  • Time Spent on Phone: Usage tracking data to help you manage screen time
  • Wake-Up Time: Your wake-up time for personalized reminders and scheduling
  • Affirmations and reflections
  • Daily prayers
  • Todo items
  • Mood entries and notes
  • Streak and activity history
  • Religion or faith preference (if you choose one during onboarding)
  • Journal entries, including text, voice notes, and photos you add

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

We and our analytics partners collect the following information automatically to improve the App, measure marketing campaigns, and understand subscription conversions:

  • App installs and app opens
  • Device and technical data (device type, OS version, app version)
  • Subscription purchase events (product ID, amount, and currency—not payment card numbers; Apple handles payments)
  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow app tracking when iOS asks (see Section 6)
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics

This data may be shared with Google Firebase Analytics and Meta (Facebook) App Events for analytics and advertising measurement. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money. Your journal, prayers, mood entries, and other on-device personal content are not shared with these partners.

2.3 AI Faith Chat

Holycat includes an optional AI chat feature designed as a faith-based companion to help you navigate reflection and spiritual encouragement. The chat collects only basic details you choose to share for that conversation:

  • Name: as you enter it for the chat session
  • Current mood: your mood at the time of the conversation

The AI chat does not collect other personal data beyond name and current mood for chat purposes. All chat messages are stored exclusively on your device. Chat history is automatically deleted from your device after two (2) days. We do not upload, store, or retain your chat conversations on our servers.

The AI chatbot does not provide medical advice and does not recommend or prescribe medication or prescriptions of any kind. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or emergency care.

2.4 Mental Wellbeing Report

When you request an overall mental wellbeing report, the App may use on-device information—such as your app usage patterns, tasks you have completed, and an AI-generated summary of your journal entries—to produce a report focused on mental wellbeing insights only.

The AI does not collect or store this information on our servers. Data is read only at the moment you request a report, used to generate that report, and then immediately deleted from processing. We do not retain copies of your journal content, task history, or usage data for report generation beyond that single, on-demand request.

These reports are for personal reflection only. They are not medical diagnoses and do not include physical health or clinical assessments.

2.5 Music Library

Holycat includes a music library of licensed meditational songs for listening within the App. Playback does not require you to upload personal audio. We do not collect listening history for advertising purposes. Any analytics related to the App as a whole remain subject to the anonymized practices described in Section 2.2.

2.6 Health & Activity Data (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, Holycat may read health and activity data from Apple HealthKit—such as steps, sleep, heart rate, and activity—to support wellbeing features inside the App. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers or shared with Meta or Firebase for advertising.

2.7 Screen Time & Prayer Lock

If you enable prayer lock or screen-time features, Holycat uses Apple's Screen Time APIs on your device to help block or limit app usage during prayer or focus periods. This processing happens on-device; we do not receive a list of every app you use on our servers.

2.8 Sun Therapy

Sun Therapy may use your device camera to confirm you are outdoors. Camera images are processed on-device for that feature and are not uploaded to our servers or shared with analytics partners.

2.9 Permissions

Holycat may request the following permissions:

  • Notifications (optional): To remind you about daily prayer, verse, affirmations, or todo items
  • HealthKit (optional): Steps, sleep, heart rate, and activity data
  • Screen Time (optional): App usage blocking for prayer lock and focus features
  • Camera (optional): Sun Therapy outdoor confirmation
  • Microphone (optional): Voice notes in your journal
  • Photo Library (optional): Adding photos to journal entries
  • App Tracking (optional): iOS may ask whether Holycat can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites for ad measurement (see Section 6)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App’s functionality
  • Display your daily verse, prayers, affirmations, and streaks inside the App
  • Provide reminders and notifications (only if you enable them)
  • Respond to support requests and inquiries
  • Analyze crashes/performance to improve stability (if diagnostics are enabled)
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Power the AI faith chat using only the name and mood you provide for that session (stored locally; auto-deleted after two days)
  • Generate on-demand mental wellbeing reports from on-device data when you request them, without retaining that data after the report is produced
  • Provide access to licensed meditational music within the App
  • Measure app installs, usage, subscription purchases, and ad campaign performance through Firebase Analytics and Meta App Events

4. Data Storage and Security

100% Local Storage

All personal information including your name, age, time spent on phone, wake-up time, affirmations, prayers, todo items, mood entries, and streak history are stored exclusively on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit this personal information to our servers or any online storage service.

No Cloud Storage: Holycat does not use any cloud storage services for your personal data. Your personal information never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it with us for support purposes.

Analytics Data: While your personal content remains on your device, we share limited analytics and measurement data with Google Firebase Analytics and Meta (Facebook) App Events as described in Section 5. This does not include your journal, prayers, mood entries, or other on-device personal content.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information. However, no method of storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing access to your device. We recommend using device passcodes, Face ID, or Touch ID to protect your data.

5. Third-Party Analytics & Advertising

Holycat uses third-party analytics and advertising partners to understand how the App is used, measure marketing campaigns, and track subscription conversions. We share data with these partners for analytics and advertising measurement; we do not sell your personal information to third parties for money.

Holycat uses third-party analytics and advertising partners, including Google Firebase Analytics and Meta (Facebook) App Events, to understand how the app is used, measure marketing campaigns, and track subscription conversions. These partners may receive information such as app installs, app opens, device type, and purchase events. If you allow app tracking in iOS settings, our partners may also use your device's advertising identifier for ad measurement. We do not sell your personal information. Payments are processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details. You can limit tracking at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

What we do not share

Your on-device personal content—including journal entries, voice notes, photos, prayers, affirmations, mood entries, HealthKit data, and chat messages—is not shared with Meta, Firebase, or other advertising partners. We do not sell personal information to third parties for money.

6. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

During onboarding, iOS may ask whether Holycat can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. This prompt is Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature.

  • If you tap Allow: Meta may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for ad measurement and campaign attribution.
  • If you tap Don't Allow: We still collect limited analytics (aggregated usage and, where available, Apple's SKAdNetwork for ad measurement). Ad measurement will be less personalized.

You can change this choice at any time: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. This website policy matches the spirit of the tracking permission text shown in the App.

7. Subscriptions & Payments

Holycat subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles all payment card and billing information. We do not receive or store your payment card numbers.

When you purchase or renew a subscription, Holycat receives purchase confirmation from Apple (via StoreKit)—such as product ID, transaction status, and subscription period. We may send subscription purchase events to Firebase Analytics and Meta App Events for analytics and ad measurement (product ID, amount, and currency only—not card details).

To cancel a subscription, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or manage subscriptions in the App Store app.

8. Children's Privacy & Spiritual Content

Holycat is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us.

Holycat includes spiritual and religious content—such as daily verses, prayers, and faith-based AI chat—that you choose during setup or in the App. Your religion or faith preference is used only to personalize your experience inside the App. It is not used to sell your data or shared with Meta or Firebase for advertising purposes.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights and controls regarding your information:

  • Opt out of tracking: Limit or disable app tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
  • Access: Request access to any personal information we may hold (note: most data is stored locally on your device)
  • Correction: Update or correct your personal information directly within the App
  • Deletion: Delete your personal information by removing entries within the App or uninstalling the App. To request deletion of any data we may hold (such as support correspondence), email us at privacy@tryholycat.com
  • Control permissions: Enable or disable notifications, HealthKit, camera, microphone, Screen Time, and other permissions in iOS Settings
  • Cancel subscription: Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone

Since your personal content is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete any information at any time by removing it from the App or uninstalling the App.

10. Data Retention

Local Data: Your personal information is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. We do not retain this information on our servers.

AI Chat: Chat messages are stored only on your device and are automatically removed after two (2) days. You may also clear chats sooner within the App where supported.

Mental Wellbeing Reports: Data used to generate a report is processed only when you request a report and is not stored by us after that request completes.

Analytics Data: Analytics and measurement data shared with Firebase and Meta is retained according to those partners' policies and is not linked to your on-device journal, prayers, or mood content.

If you contact support, we may retain communications for as long as needed to resolve your request and for legal or operational reasons.

11. International Data Transfers

Since your personal information is stored locally on your device, it is not transferred internationally.

However, analytics and measurement data shared with Google Firebase Analytics and Meta App Events may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. This data does not include your on-device journal, prayers, mood entries, or other personal content.

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information.

We do not sell personal information. Your on-device personal content is stored locally and is not sold. We share limited analytics data with Firebase and Meta for measurement as described in Section 5, which is not a sale of personal information for money.

13. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since your personal information is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it. You can access, modify, or delete your information at any time through the App.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
